...of dismissing chronological references

Did ya miss me?

I missed y’all! C’mon, get to posting so I can read about what everyone is up to! My vacation was great, so great that I am scheduling more. I’m thinking at least once a month.

Tonight, after evening worship, Anton, "Janelle" and I were invited to supper at the home of a fellow Brother & Sister. I was so surprised by the invite because of the age difference. They have children the same ages as Anton and I! Yes, I know that we do not have to only hang out with those in our peer group, but each time anyone who is chronologically more mature than we are reaches out, I am stunned.

Maybe it’s because I’m not used to it and no matter how many times this happens, I always tend to think that the age barrier means that we have nothing outside of Christ in common. WRONG! Wrong every time! Tonight I learned that we have quite a few common interests and that in Christ, we have family everywhere. I was also reminded of how marvelously God answers our prayers. As a result of disappointing window shopping yesterday, I asked God to help me find someone who could collaborate with me on rectifying the “problem,” and that person was exposed, (I can’t say found because he knew where he was and what he could do all along…tee-he), tonight! All along, for the past 20 months, we’ve been worshipping and studying together and I had no clue! HOW RUDE! just kidding :)

Thank You, Father, for showing me that just because “I grew up like that,” (stay in your peer group), doesn’t mean it’s right. Also, Thank You, LORD, for touching our cherished Brother & Sister with the knowledge that chronological age means nothing. I appreciate that they were willing to be hospitable to us as well. We were very comfortable there and are looking forward to going back!

  1. I'm glad you had time to get away. We need that every once in a while. As for the age thing, it's amazing how God directs you in someone's life or theirs in yours, regardless of the difference of the age. I've known people older than I am who are just not wise at all and then I see people younger than I am who seems like they have been smart all their lives.

  2. Isn't it great when God brings just the right person into our lives?

Then sometimes, we are the one chosen to intersect another one's life to help them.

    Thanks for posting this praise.

  3. I have learned that the age thing means absolutely nothing. You know you are one of few friends that I have that are my age. Most are atleast 10 years older or 5 years younger. Embrace those who God puts in your life. Age is just a number to put on your birthday cake. :-)

  4. Ahhh, what a wonderful thing God did for you!
I have been thinking lately how I would so enjoy spending time with people older than me. To learn from their life experiences, to be assured that the things I face are normal, to be free to ask of those who have "been there."
And I love that age doesn't have to be a barrier. God is so much bigger than that!!!
