...of getting out of your own way

A treasured friend shared with me today that she was feeling unproductive. I disagreed with her but I kinda' knew why she was saying it but I asked her why anyway. Sure enough, it was because she feels as if she is not moving in the direction that she wants to. This so does not make her unproductive. I told her to go for it because she has nothing but herself holding her back. Treasured Friend simply replied, "I know."

A few moments later, she says, "I'm stuck in cement." After clarifying that she was speaking figuratively, I told her, "chisel the cement and use the pieces to build your path." She expressed that she liked it and I told her that she could have it because it was an exclusive just for her!

Treasured Friend, sister, confidant, advisor, and tear-wiper-upper, (you like my new word huh?), you are not where you want to be right now because you are where God wants you right now. That "cement" that you are in, means God wants you to stay put. The pieces that He will allow you to chisel are all the things that He gives you to do now that you don't really want to do. But they are necessary to get you where you want to be, BUT, when God says, "Okay daughter. It's time. Come, claim what you asked me for, for NOW, it is ready, according to MY will."

"What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, becasue you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures... Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up." James 4:1-10 NIV

Treasured Friend, "You know I love you right?"
