...of Ruth V & gift # 3

Ruth, chapter 4.

Ruth’s book closes for our reading pleasure with Boaz locating the “rightful” kinsman-redeemer. Boaz is afforded the opportunity of claiming land and Ruth as his wife because the kinsman-redeemer was not able to do so. They married and had a son.

At his birth, women said to Naomi, “Praise be to the LORD, who this day has not left you without a kinsman-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For you daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.” Ruth 4:14-15 NIV

Naomi then puts the child on her lap and cares for him. Again, the women present spoke, “Naomi has a son.” They named him Obed, (Ruth 4:17 NIV) which means, “serving.”

Okay, there were some women around when Ruth gave birth to Obed and they told Naomi that her daughter-in-law, who loves her…, how did they know that Ruth loved her mother-in-law?

Had Ruth told them that she loved Naomi?
*NO.

Did Naomi mention that Ruth loved her?
*NO.

It was because of what Ruth did. Ruth "spoke" of loving her mother-in-law with her actions. Love is a verb.

Application: Let my actions "speak" of loving my mother-in-law.

Today's gift is a 'Friendship Teapot.

It comes with a card that explains what each part of the teapot represents in a friendship. I purchased this in Japan about three years ago. I had no clue who I wanted to give it to so I just hung on to it. But now I do...

...MEL, over at A Voice For Moms! Mel seems to express a great concern for our political leaders. What I get from her is that we, mothers, should be well-informed and prepared to use our voices for our children. Thanks Mel. I love you!

"See" you all on Monday!
