“To the woman He said, ‘I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.’ NIV
Sarah Mae @ http://www.likeawarmcupofcoffee.blogspot.com/ said, “Pretty please explain why that is your favorite scripture? I'm SO curious! I am not a fan of the curse, so this verse is not a happy one for me...”
1. Disobeying God warrants correction. Any “curse” that comes my way, is a result of what I’ve done.
2. God’s corrective action is personalized. My disobedience will not be corrected in the same way as “yours.”
3. The, “Blame Game,” is not a game that God plays. I am accountable for the wrong I do. Yes, others may have some influence, BUT, I am still responsible for what Larie does. And I have to own up to whatever desires are inside of me and! (Genesis 2:11-19 & James 1:14-15)
4. Having been place under Anton’s subjection, I am afforded the blessing of keeping our home since he has eagerly accepted God’s corrective charge. Anton lovingly provides, protects and guides us! Therefore, my energy is not depleted as a result of working outside of our home. That energy is then used to cultivate a genuine desire for Anton. I’m not tired, cranky or rushed when he arrives home. Accepting his, “call to duty,” also allows ME to “train up”, (Proverbs 22:6), our children and be their greatest influence.
So this, Sarah Mae, is why Genesis 3:16 is my favorite scripture. Thanks for asking!

I'm glad Sarah Mae asked also because I too, read with benefit.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great explaination. I found your blog after reading "Love Abounds at Home" which I tried to read everyday. It's great to see other women out there who stay at home and aren't ashamed of their godly calling. Where I live they're aren't many of us...sadly to say...even in the church...but God is still good and I'm fortunate to realize that I need to be at home where he's called me. I'll be back. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteThank you for answering!
ReplyDeleteGreat thing about the disobedience - you're right, can't really blame Eve! We would have fruit on our lips as well...and still do!
One little thing - male headship was established before the curse...I think you probably know that! His headship is not the curse, us wanting to control our husbands is - "and your desire will be for your husband."
Thank you for the quote in the comments on my blog...I love ya sister!
ReplyDeleteHey Sarah Mae!
ReplyDeleteThanks for catching and correcting that. I did know that, I need to edit that. I got tangled up somewhere. Thanks!

Larie
