...of respecting Anton's work

Yesterdays post highlighted Anton’s Air Force career. Many of you commented with gratitude for his service to our country. Thank you all for your appreciation and recognition of the dedication that Anton puts forth.

“Take your wife to work day” was written to encourage other wives in taking time to understand what it is that their husbands do outside of the home. For me, it’s not just about watching Anton work, going to work with him blesses me further in being able to stay at home. I get to actually see what he has to go through, (sometimes it’s not peachy), to make it possible for me to keep house. In ignorance, those of us who stay at home may sometimes have the ungrateful audacity to assume that we are “stuck at home all day while our husbands get to get away and have adult interaction.” Trust me, my husband would rather have the company of our children as opposed to the adults that he has to work with all day.

Ladies, if you are blessed to remain at home with or without children while your husband goes to work, shout joyful praises of thanks to God and then communicate to your loving husband the admiration you have for him as provider. Thank him! Find loving & creative ways that express your respect & gratitude for his daily sacrifice of leaving his family, who he’d much rather spend his day with, to enter a realm where he is unloved, disrespected and unappreciated.

“…and the wife must respect her husband.” Ephesians 5:22-33 NIV

  2. SHouting joyful praise with you!

Popped over from On the Path. Hope you don't mind if I splash around a bit here. Your words are encouraging and it is a pure joy to meet writers who are using their syllables for HIs glory.

    Blessings from Costa Rica,

  3. AMEN AMEN AMEN!!! Even though our son is out of the house now, I still stay home to take care of our house and my hubby's needs. It's been a long time since I've done a "ride-along" with my husband (he's a deputy). I know just from the stories he tells each night that home would be a much more peaceful and happy place to be than out in that ugly world dealing with criminals. I am so blessed, thank you for the reminder to keep that in the forefront of my mind. :)
    Blessings!

  4. I am so very thankful that Dwight is the provider that he is and that he wants me to stay home with Andrew. I am very thankful for that but sometimes I don't give him enough credit for the job he does. You are so right in that he would much rather be here at home. Thanks for the reminder!

  5. Indeed, this is a good reminder. A timely one, too!
I can be thankful for Brian's hard work - and he does work hard! - but it's easy to forget to tell him about my thankfulness.
But honestly, on days when I'm struggling with my PMS emotions and the kids are being incredibly LOUD, it's hard to imagine not wanting to be away at work! *sigh*

  6. This is a good reminder for me, as I'm a sahm too. :-) My hubby is a realtor and he gets to set his own hours, but he also has to deal with irate people and stuff, which I wouldn't want to do. Thank you for this post! It's easy to stay at home and think things are so hard sometimes.

I don't stay at home, and I am still grateful for what my pastor husband does to make our living. Thanks for reminding me to show him my gratitude. You're a wonderful cheerleader!

  8. I can appreciate this because I don't have a husband. I carried the responsibility of having to provide for myself and my daughter and have never, in my adult life, had the blessing of someone else carrying that responsibility for me.

Being able to stay home and have someone else work to provide for you is a blessing that should never be taken for granted.

    Rich blessings my friend!

  9. When my husband and I got married, I made sure that I understood what he did from day to day. He was actually surprised that I cared to the level that I would ask questions. I didn't fully understand his work and the military until I worked on the base. At that time, I truly understood what he went through from day to day. I'm thankful for a husband that works and provides for our family.
