Everything started to change as the day progressed. My taste buds were shot, whatever I drank or ate tasted like metal. I would not take the risk of adding to my nauseated state by pandering to the Magnesium; I opted not to drink any of it. Instead, I prayed.
1630 scan…53.
Now this, WOW, this is when I reckoned my Doctor mentally interrupted:
Almost yelling, she said, “What are you doing? Have you been following our directions? You have to get this poison out of your body so you’ll be released tomorrow! Don’t you wanna get outta here? I don’t want to have to come in here on Thursday! I’d rather be at home with my family!”
AHA, GOT’CHA! Then I understood why she’d been so frustrated with my levels. “Today” is Tuesday, “tomorrow” is Wednesday and then “it’s” Thursday, Thanksgiving Day! But, didn’t she think that I too would rather be w/my family? Had she forgotten that I was on that beautiful island w/o my family and would still be there on Thanksgiving?
"Yeah, I'm sorry Doc that I may ruin your day of thanks 'cause I bought some Cancer at the corner store up yonder and then decided that I didn’t want it so I had to wait in a forever line at the customer service desk only to find out that returns ain't done on site which meant that I had to go to another store in the next county so I could “get my money back” but THEEEN, that store didn't have no cash there-it had to be sent from from a safe when needed!"
Yup, my mistake Doc, I apologize for making purchases based on the latest fads!
“An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment.” Proverbs 18:1 NIV

Wow, how horrible. Nice caring doctor huh? Oy my friend you've been through it and back again and then through it.....
ReplyDeleteWow, Larie.
ReplyDeleteI'm just glad I know you now. I know you've made it through this stuff. Cuz if this was a real-time rendition, I think my insides would be in knots right now!
Larie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a journey - and that doctor! Oh my. Like Irritable Mother said, I'm glad to know you've made it on the other side. Much like reading Revelation, it's scary but we know how it's going to end.
Smooches back at ya,
~T
Unbelievable!!
ReplyDeleteThis doc definitely needed some ethics and beside manner classes...
It breaks my heart what you have been through. I am soooo sorry. It is bad enough to have cancer and be on an island without your family, but then for the doctors and staff to be heartless.
ReplyDeleteI am very sorry!
Andrea
I am about ready to slap somebody here. Can not believe their mannerisms towards you. I thank God you've come through this and still have your great attitude and loving heart. :O)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I think I would have opened my mouth and breathed on her when she came near me.
ReplyDeleteOk did I just say that. You handled this so much better than most would have.
I guess she missed the lecture on bedside manner!
